Leaving the noisy harbour a narrow road rises and crosses the island heading for Terra Murata, its highest point. This beautiful bay was formed by the collapse of the rim of a long extinct volcano. The island of Ischia can be seen rising up in the distance. Even in October only mad dogs and Englishmen are out in the midday sun. Soon, even they succumb to the local seafood and a glass of wine on the quayside.
